Many people set a time goal when starting a weight loss programs. Desire to lose excess pounds and achieve an optimal body weight in the shortest period as possible is completely understandable. There are countless fast weight loss programs, especially diets which can be found in magazines, books and on the Internet which promise dramatic weight loss in a very short period of time.
Many of them do work but there is a catch. Non of the so-called revolutionary diets does not provide weight maintenance after losing weight and one gets easily caught in the vicious circle of weight loss and weight gain.
There are many different theories and opinions about an ideal weight loss diet, while many diets such as the low-carbohydrate diet are heavily promoted as the best and the easiest way to lose excess pounds but in reality there is not much to think about. All the leading health and weight loss experts agree that a healthy reduction of caloric intake through foods and adequate physical activity are virtually the only way for successful weight loss in long term.
You are highly recommended not to start with any fast weight loss diet for two reasons. All fast weight loss diets base on drastic reduction of caloric intake which is too "inhumane" to stick with in long term and as soon as you will start eat "normally" you will gradually gain all lost pounds and perhaps even more you had before starting to lose weight. The second and the most important reason why you should stay away from fast weight loss diets are potentially serious health risks due to insufficient calorie and nutrient intake.
